meet katie, your flower hype girl
I’m Katie Lila, the founder of Flowers For People and creator & host of Follow The Blooms, the TV series celebrating flowers, community, and the beauty of thinking outside the vase.
I’m on a mission to bring flowers out of the background and into your everyday life in ways that feel joyful, meaningful, and impossible to ignore. I’m always asking, What else can we do with flowers? Through Flowers For People, I blend floral design, storytelling, community connection, and big visual moments that help people feel something. I believe that in a world often divided, flowers soften and unify us.
But around here, I’m less “flower expert” and more everyday flower friend — the kind who encourages you to try things, get curious, make a mess, and realize flowers don’t have to be perfect to bring beauty to your life.

hello, yellow
When things feel a little grey, I don’t ask questions. I just bring the sunshine! Need to turn up the joy volume? I’ve got you. Like your favorite song coming on at just the right moment, I show up warm, bright, and full of light. I’m your reminder that happiness is always close by. Call on me when you need a friend, a cheerleader, or a reason to smile for no reason at all.

rosy rebellion
I am an exclamation point! Have something you want to say? Do it with me and let’s be loud! I’m the headline moment. Like ripe cherries that burst at their peak, I spill into the moment I arrive. I’m powerful. I’m courageous. I dare you to ignore me, you absolutely cannot.

fresh start
Inhale with me… 3… 2… 1…. I’m the deep breath you didn’t know you needed. The space between what was and what’s next. Slow down for a moment. Let go of what you’ve been holding. I’m your fresh start, a blank page before anything is written. I’ll carry you forward like the first blooms of a new season.

Fresh flowers don’t have to be fussy.
Whenever I bring fresh flowers in, I like to welcome them right away. Here’s a few of my quick tips to keep flowers fun and easy, and to help my blooms feel at home.
Snip the stems
Trim ½ inch off each stem at an angle before placing in water.
Start clean
Use a freshly washed vase. Clean vase, happy flowers.
Fresh water, always
Add cool water and flower food if you have it. Change water every 2–3 days.
Lose the low leaves
Remove any leaves that would sit below the water line.
Keep it cool
Place blooms away from direct sun, heat vents, and ripening fruit.
Play a little
Split your bouquet into jars, move stems around, share a few. Flowers are for real life.
Have on-hand for your ready-to-go flower play kit:
a pair of snips
an accessible water bucket for a quick drop after your grocery store run
flower food packets
some ribbon or twine
a collection of your favorite vases
note cards for gifting
You’ve got this. Buy the flowers.
Keep them blooming. Make something beautiful.
